Independent Study Graduate Credit
Preliminary Statements
In addition to graduate credit being available for a number of My Education
Connection courses, the following courses can be taken for graduate credit
in an independent study, self-paced format.*Approved district designed professional development courses may not substitute for regularly designated courses in degree programs unless determined by the respective department. More Graduate Credit Information Advanced Technology in Education (3 Credit)
This course seeks to help students understand that teaching with technology is concept
and knowledge driven, learner centered, and relevant to multiple contexts and roles.
This course is designed to provide students with a theoretical and pragmatic understanding
of technology based teaching and learning.
Career Development (3 Credit)
This course is intended for people employed in a variety of career development
settings including business and industry human resource centers, employment
agencies, K-12 school systems, adult counseling/career centers, and vocational
rehabilitation agencies. The curriculum is endorsed by the National Career
Development Association (NCDA), the National Employment Counseling Association
and the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals.
Classroom Instruction (3 Credit)
The Classroom Instruction Series allows teachers to increase their core
content area knowledge, increase the use of technology in the classroom
and review current issues in education, including new curriculum
frameworks and grade level content expectations.
Current Education Issues (3 Credit)
This online training course will help participants become familiar with
current issues in the district. Topics addressed in this course include
issues and trends that have either a direct or indirect effect on student
achievement. This class provides students with opportunities to identify
and explore issues that effects the students, educators, and administrators.
Managing and Integrating Technology into the Curriculum (3 Credit)
This course will focus on the management and integration of technology in the
classroom. It includes how to evaluate websites and educational software,
writing lessons that integrate technology, creating webquests, and other
topics related to the electronic classroom.
Protecting Our Students, Our Teachers, and Our Schools (3 Credit)
This course prepares educators and education support personnel to protect
our Students and secure our schools.
Designing and Creating a WebQuest (3 Credit)
This course will demonstrate how to develop a WebQuest. Participants
develop the WebQuest based on a classroom need and then will post the
WebQuest online
Designing and Creating a ELA WebQuest (3 Credit)
This course will demonstrate how to develop a Language Arts WebQuest.
Participants develop the WebQuest based on a classroom need and then
will post the WebQuest online.
Designing and Creating a Science WebQuest (3 Credit)
This course will demonstrate how to develop a Science WebQuest.
Participants develop the WebQuest based on a classroom need and
then will post the WebQuest online.
Designing and Creating a Math WebQuest (3 Credit)
This course will demonstrate how to develop a Math WebQuest.
Participants develop the WebQuest based on a classroom need and
then will post the WebQuest online.
Designing and Creating a Social Studies WebQuest (3 Credit)
This course will demonstrate how to develop a Social Studies WebQuest.
Participants develop the WebQuest based on a classroom need and
then will post the WebQuest online.
Using Microsoft Word in the Classroom (3 Credit)
This course will focus on how to use Microsoft Word in the classroom
for both the teaching and the learning process. You will learn how
to create many useful documents for your students and classroom.
Enhancing Your Math Curriculum (3 Credit)
This course will focus on teaching participants how to use the Internet
to find resources to enhance and support the teaching of Math content
curriculum. Participants will also find interactive projects for students
to participate in that relate to the content.
